The Road Less Traveled…
Accessible, Affordable, Unforgettable

Clustered between the western beauty of the Berkshires and the bustling Boston area to the East lies Johnny Appleseed Country – aka North Central Massachusetts. As many travelers aim for these congested neighboring areas, the selective, in-the-know traveler opts for “the road less traveled,” an area rich in outdoor attractions, natural beauty, picturesque farms and farmstands, quaint town commons, and an abundance of antiquing and shopping opportunities (the furniture outlets at “the Furniture Capital of New England” in Gardner).

The Route: Johnny Appleseed Country is traversed by the East-West, toll-free Route 2, connecting the Mohawk Trail in the West to the Freedom Trail in the East. Strategically located within an hour’s drive from metro Boston, 30 minutes from metro Worcester, and 1½ hours from Providence, Johnny Appleseed Country has fast connections to Routes 495, 190 and 91 for North-South travel.

The Road Less Traveled…awaits, allowing the tour operator room to move, the freedom to stop, and many options for travelers the year round. The Johnny Appleseed Visitor Center, located on Route 2W in Lancaster, between exits 35 and 34, provides visitors a warm welcome, restrooms, snacks, valuable information, and brochures on local attractions, lodgings and restaurants.

Scenic backroads await, along with a countryside that will make memories.

Group interests: Whether your groups are students, antiquers, foreign-language visitors, senior citizens, theater-goers, leaf-peepers, museum-goers, or outdoor adventurers, we can help you plan an itinerary that will be…accessible, affordable and unforgettable.
