Kids are out of school and it is finally spring! What to do with the week off? Well, we have plenty going on in Appleseed Country!

Come play at Great Wolf Lodge! 150 Great Wolf Dr., Fitchburg. There are plenty of activities open to the public from 10am-9pm daily. Check out Howlers Peak Ropes Course where you will be 20 feet up off the ground, climbing through obstacles, balancing on ropes, and climbing through bridges all while safely strapped into a safety harness. Play MagiQuest where your quest to become a Master Magi begins as you explore an enchanted kingdom, with your very own magic wand. By following clues and solving puzzles in the Book of Wisdom you’ll accomplish the MagiQuest adventures. Play Laser Frenzy where you navigate over, under and around the beams quickly to get to the other side of the maze. Once you’ve reached the checkpoint button, navigate back to the beginning to complete the mission and receive your score. Other options include indoor mini-golf, bowling, an arcade, a princess spa, the XD theater, snacks, food, and so much more! Visit one of our wonderful museums. We have the Top Fun Aviation Museum located at 21 Prichard Street, Fitchburg (978) 342-2809 displaying toy airplanes, games and puzzles from 1928 to the present. We also have the Museum of Russian Icons, 203 Union Street, Clinton (978) 598-5000 displaying more than 400 Russian Icons, the largest collection of its kind in North America and one of the largest private collections outside Russia. And there is the Fitchburg Art Museum located on Merriam Parkway, Fitchburg (978) 345-4207. This family-friendly museum is the area’s oldest cultural institution, with 12 galleries of American and European paintings, prints, sculptures and decorative arts, as well as Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Asian and Pre-Colombian antiquities. The Gardner Museum on 28 Pearl St. in Gardner (978) 632-3277 offers a display of historical artifacts. They are open March-December Wednesday-Sunday 1pm-4pm.

Kids skate or bowl FREE! Visit www.kidsskatefree.com or www.kidsbowlfree.com for vouchers for free skating or bowling (bowling is available in the summer months). Skating is available at Roll On America, 90 Duval Rd., Lancaster (978) 537-4010. Roll on also has a drop off camp all week long from 8am-5pm. Includes breakfast, lunch, skating, laser tag, games, crafts, and more! Bowling alleys in the area include Putnam Street Lanes, 14 Putnam St., Fitchburg (978) 343-9664 and Gardner Ten Pins, 560 West Broadway Gardner (978) 632-0010. Putnam Street Lanes is the oldest candlepin bowling house in the country. Their hours are Monday-Thursday 8am-11pm and Friday-Sunday noon-11pm. Gardner Ten Pin offers galactic bowling on Friday and Saturday nights. Their hours ar Summer noon to 10pm Mon., Tues., Thurs., and Sun., 9am-10pm Wed. and noon -11pm Fri. and Sat. Take an art class at Fitchburg Art Museum. This year’s classes includes Butterflies, Birds, and Bugs, Spring Landscapes, Delightful Designs, Nature Journals, and Clay Mummies. Keep learning while having fun. Mount Wachusett Community College is offering their Adventure Days program for kids ages 7-11 years. Adventure Days will incorporate mathematics, social studies, science, language arts, and art so that the children are both learning and having fun during the week of school vacation. Many parents are worried about “brain drain’ during school breaks, don’t let your child fall behind; keep them engaged! Cost includes lunch. Includes Chemistry Day, Maps, Recycling, and more. And then there is the Play-Well TEKnologies with LEGO program at Sterling Recreation Department, 1835 Town Hall, Sterling from 1pm-4pm Monday-Friday for Grades 3-5. Engineering Fundamentals Power up your engineering skills with Play-Well TEKnologies and tens of thousands of LEGO! Apply real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture through engineer-designed projects such as arch bridges, skyscrapers, motorized cars and the Battletrack! Design and build as never before, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment. An experienced instructor will challenge new and returning students to engineer at the next level.
